WILBERFORCE, OH – January 28, 2008 – The 2008 Greeks United! All-Star Greek Step Showcase® announces that it has scheduled two preliminary community service performances for underprivileged urban community students.
Both exhibition performances will be held in Dayton, OH and are tentatively scheduled for early next month. One performance is scheduled for February 06, 2008 at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School and the other for February 07, 2008 at Stivers School for the Arts. The performances are designed in part to show a large portion of positive fraternity and sorority life on university campuses through organization commitment, superb time utilization, and community service dedication.
“If we want high school students to come to college, then we have to give them new roll models; individuals who they see as being able to enjoy themselves, yet simultaneously taking full advantage of their educational opportunities,” said Tim Carthon, PBI President, Executive Director of the Greeks United! All-Star Greek Step Showcase®, and renowned veteran Step Master, “Many times students in urban communities are made fun of for wanting to be smart and get smarter, which is why they choose more negative influences as roll models, be they people or lifestyles. What the Greeks United! All-Star Greek Step Showcase® does is show these same students that they can not only be smart and be in the ‘in-crowd,’ but they can actually lead that crowd due to the same intelligence of which those others have made fun. That’s the best way to have the last laugh: while smiling all the way to the educational bank.”
The upcoming Showcase preliminary exhibition performances are in preparation for the 2nd Annual Greeks United! All-Star Greek Step Showcase®, scheduled for Saturday, February 23, 2008 at the Dayton Masonic Temple Auditorium in Dayton, OH . Seating begins at 6:30pm.
