September 23, 2010 No Comments on The National Greek All-Star™ Awards™ Secures Partnership With ULGCCLEVELAND, OH – September 23, 2010 – The National Greek Fraternity and Sorority Awards® announces that it has secured a partnership with the Urban League of Greater Cleveland.
The Urban League is an organization that is the “sister arm” to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, more commonly known as the NAACP. “This partnership will enhance the Urban League’s Youth programming by providing a promotional arm for the HBCU College Tour as well as establishing a Urban League Step Team that focuses on leadership and social development,” said Danyll Jones-Lockhart, Associate Director of Education & Youth Development at the ULGC, “The student will also be eligible to compete for college scholarships and receive valuable exposure to collegiate fraternal and sorority life. This partnership will also allow students to gain experience in marketing, management, production, communication, and entrepreneurship.”
Tim Carthon, Greek All-Star™ Awards™ Executive Director, will be working with youth tied specifically with the Urban League ‘ULGC’s youth projects on Greek fraternity and sorority stepping choreography and history, so as to give them a better understanding and preparation for their collegiate life. “Fraternity and sorority life can be very enriching and memorable,” he says, “And I plan on preparing these kids to be the next national fraternity and sorority all-stars as well as their organizations’ Presidents.”
For more than 20 years, the Urban League of Greater Cleveland has been conducting HBCU College and University Tours. These tours are unique because they spotlight three, high impact, focus areas:
- The tours expose the students to a variety of institutions.
- They visit small, large, public and private institutions.
- They walk the campuses and get a very clear sense of what it would be like transitioning from class to class and how different a college schedule is from high school*.
The 3rd Annual Greeks United All-Star Greek Step Showcase®, The 2010 National Greek Fraternity and Sorority Awards®, will be held October 29, 2010 at the State Theater in Downtown Cleveland, OH. Red Carpet Countdown at 6:30pm EST. Showtime at 7:30pm EST.
