    The Young Greek Leadership Program™

CLEVELAND, OH – June 16, 2014 – The Greek All-Star™ Awards™ announces that its Young Greek Leadership Program™ will be a featured program in the 2014 Closing the Achievement Gap Summer Bridge Program.

The Young Greek Leadership Program™ (YGLP™) is Tier #3 of the Greek All-Star™ Awards™ (GASA) “3-Tier” Stepping Mission™.  It is designed to teach students priceless lessons through consistent actions, not verbiage alone; molding “young coals” into “budding diamonds” and preparing those diamonds for college and its afterlife through four (4) important subject matters and four (4) distinct character traits using Greek-letter organization collegiate role models and a well-known field of performing arts only synonymous to them to do so: Stepping.

We’re excited to be joining CTAG this summer.  Students don’t just need educating during the 9-month school year,” said Tim Carthon, Young Greek Leadership Program™ Director, “So programs like CTAG’s Summer Bridge, which give Students a chance to have lots of fun through activities and also learn new skill sets and approaches to difficult situations in the process, are absolutely essential to their positive development.”

CTAG’s Summer Bridge Program is scheduled to begin tomorrow, June 17, 2014, at 8:30am at George Washington Carver Elementary School on E. 55 St.  See More about CTAG.

Logo design for this new performing arts program was contracted and developed by longtime GASA graphic design company partner Digital Hard Copy LLC.

YGLP™ Students Performing at the Call & Post® Juneteenth Festival

CLEVELAND, OH – June 22, 2013 – Today, the National Greek All-Star™ Awards™ Young Greek Leadership Program™ Students performed at the Juneteenth Festival, hosted by the Call and Post Newspaper; the oldest and most influential voice for African-Americans in all metropolitan regions throughout Ohio (Watch Videos of Their Performance Here).

I was happy to receive the invitation from Valarie Battle for my Students to perform at the Juneteenth Festival. I was even happier that she and the Call and Post recognized what it was and is we are trying to do in the community with and for at-risk youths,” said Tim Carthon, National Greek All-Star™ Awards™ Executive Director and YGLP™ Founder, “And, seeing as though stepping was derived from African-Boot Dancing and the Juneteenth Festival is a celebration of African-descendants’ emancipation from slavery, it was an obvious match made in rhythmic heaven.”

Supported by a combination of public figures, educational institutions, and partners such as the Urban League of Greater Cleveland, Ohio Senator Nina Turner, the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, the Cleveland Cavaliers® through their generous donations, and the Cleveland Council of Black Colleges, the YGLP™ is a unique program created by Tim Carthon, Creator and Director of the Young Greek Leadership Program™, for middle and high school students, grades 7-12.

CLEVELAND, OH – December 14, 2012 – “The tragedy that occurred in Connecticut is absolutely heartbreaking. Our prayers go out not only to the victims and their families, but to the community that has been blindsidingly-devastated by this event as well. As an educator, I know all too well how schools are a collection of families, and trust that words cannot express the pain that these families and this community are going through at this time. However, we will do what we do best: Ban together in times of trouble. Please, do what you can to help ease their pain in their time of unbelievable heartache.” ~ Tim Carthon, Executive Director.
